State legislators and economic development leaders went to China in November 2011 with the Center for International Understanding to see first-hand how China’s emergence as a global economic power impacts North Carolina. The focus of the program was understanding the intersection of clean energy and economic development.

After traveling to Denmark, 2nd grade teacher Jeff Barger developed a fun and interactive way to share Danish language, history, and culture with his students. Using maps, photos, music, currency, story books, and more, “Daily Denmark” has become a highlight of each school day.

Learning from Finland presents recommendations for strengthening education and teacher preparation in North Carolina, based on the learnings of a delegation that traveled to Helsinki in Fall 2011. The study program was coordinated by the NC Public School Forum and the Center for International Understanding. The report was authored by education consultant John Dornan.
European Union Energy and Green Jobs Report: 2010
- This 23-page report describes what a delegation of North Carolina energy experts learned in Germany, France and Belgium and presents their insights about renewable energy resources and possible applicability to North Carolina policy.
