Latino Initiative Focused on Health Outcomes

“The more we understand their (Mexican) culture and how they link to services in their home country, the better we will be able to provide that here in the United States,”  says Martha Brinsko, adult nurse practitioner at the Charlotte Community Health Clinic.

Four county teams — Durham, Mecklenburg, Wake and Orange — have returned from Mexico and this year’s Latino Initiative program focused on health care. They are already focused on improving health outcomes and delivering emergency services. The 25-member delegation saw urban hospital and rural clinic settings and learned about emergency response efforts to help them understand ways to better serve Latino clients in North Carolina.
