Today begins a week-long educational exchange between North Carolina and our partner region, Jiangsu Province in eastern China. It’s only the first day, and already, our Chinese partners are requesting more opportunities to connect with North Carolina schools. What a wonderful experience ahead for students!
Mr. Xu Weimin, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Education Examination Authority, and his team of provincial officials and school principals are in North Carolina until September 25th. The group of 20 began their orientation to our education and government systems with meetings with the State Board of Education and a tour of the Governor’s Mansion.
It was an honor to joining State Board of Education Chairman Bill Harrison to officially great the visiting educators from China.
Throughout their program they will tour college campuses in the Triangle and then split up to visit a number Center for International Understanding’s China programs in schools in 12 counties throughout the state.
I am most looking forward to our final event, a video conference linking four regional sites: Swain, Buncombe, Onslow and Cabarrus counties. Our North Carolina and Jiangsu Province educators will talk about lessons learned and highlights of their time during this educational exchange. I cannot wait to hear impressions and ideas for further strengthening North Carolina-China education ties.
Here is a press release about the week-long program.
