Global Engagement

The Center’s Global Engagement Initiative is preparing state legislators and other policy experts to position North Carolina to take advantage of global opportunities.

Every day, legislators and local leaders are confronted with policy challenges that require international insight. Through education, training and global experiences, the Center helps prepare leaders to position North Carolina to take advantage of global opportunities. Supported initially with a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Center’s global engagement efforts have yielded three key outcomes for the State of North Carolina.

  • The Center compiled International Benchmarks to provide policymakers with a starting point. How global is North Carolina today? To download a copy of the report, please click here.

  • A bi-partisan International Business and Trade Caucus has formed in the N.C. General Assembly, a first in the nation.
  • In response to our recommendation, a legislative Joint Select Committee on Global Engagement has convened to position North Carolina to promote economic growth and provide jobs in the global economy. To visit the committee’s website, click here.
