Building Global Schools Denmark Partnerships
International School Partnerships help build global competence and broaden students’ perspectives. The Center has launched 30 International School Partnerships between middle and high schools in North Carolina and schools in Denmark.
Latino Initiative Imaginative Leadership
More than 650 North Carolina leaders have participated in the internationlly recognized Latino Initiative. They are building creative solutions to help weave Latino immigrants into the fabric of North Carolina communities all over the state.
Gov. Bev Perdue Announces Confucius Classrooms
The Center for International Understanding is developing the nation’s first state network of Confucius Classrooms over the next three years.
Current Leaders
Energy experts and state legislators will join the Center’s upcoming program to the European Union to study energy policy. The delegation will explore the policies and experiences of France, Germany and Brussels and bring back recommendations for increased sustainable energy and green jobs in North Carolina.

“So often when we travel, the ‘stereotype’ walls come down on both sides, and suddenly we see that people are much more alike than different. And if we allow it, we gain a world of knowledge in our differences,” said Union County teacher Tammy Nelson. Tammy is one of 13 N.C. school principals and teachers preparing for a program in Denmark this fall.
